Make-up Demonstration by Teresa Fairminer
DAY FACE
Top make-up artist, Teresa Fairminer, uses colours from the Margaret Astor launch palette, to make the face come alive, glow and radiate confidence. She attributes the thinking behind this make-up design to the celebrated psychiatrist, Dr Anthony Clare, who says, "If you want to be happy: Be happy, Act it, Play the part, Put on a happy face."
It is not simply a day make-up but also an effective cover-up on any of those 'off' days that we all suffer from time to time.
Base: Colour Control Adaptable Make-up
Tip: Ensure that the face is cool before applying foundation as a hot face shortens the length of a make-up, so spray with a little cool water first.
Blusher: Perfect Blush (Soft Sorbet)
Tip: Apply with a sponge instead of a blusher brush to leave a more youthful sheen; covers better than a cream blusher and lasts longer, too.
Powder: Perfect Finish Powder
Tip: Only use powder on the centre panel of the face. Remember to powder your nose, as unless it is perfectly-shaped, a shiny nose will always look bigger.
Lip Colour: Colour Proof Lipstick (Azalea)
Tip: Apply colour to the lips before the eyes as this prevents over making-up the eyes. As a rule, strong lip colour means less eye make-up. Strong eye make-up means less lip colour.
Eye Colour: Eyeshadow Monos
Light White to brow, Platinum at base of lower lashes, Mexican Brown to socket line, Liquid Eyeliner (Tobacco), Kohl Kajal Pencil (White), Long Life Mascara (Brown).
Tip: Before applying shadow to the eyelids, go around the socket line with a cotton wool bud to take away any surplus grease. If this isn't done first, it may well shorted the life of your eye make-up.
Nail Colour: Ultra Diamant Nail Polish (Light White)NIGHT FACE
The more dramatic look for the evening is inspired by a great architect who created some of the most brilliant and dazzling architecture the world has ever seen - Antonio Gaudi. El Capricho (A Whim) is one of Antonio Gaudi's most colourful designs.
Gaudi loved anything bright and whimsical, to 'uplift the spirit' as he would say. He particularly loved the brilliant designs of the ceramics found in Turkey and Morocco - so terracotta is the principle colour in this evening make-up.
Base: Colour Control Adaptable Make-up Cover Stick
Tip: Using the day face as a base, spray the face with water to freshen and revive to make it ready to receive more make-up. Apply a little extra foundation and concealer under the eyes and wherever else you may feel you need it.
Blusher: Perfect Blush (Golden Cognac)
